After
How the new masterplan will seek to rejuvinate the Chester-road Edge lane intersection,

The fundamental changes to the new masterplan for Stretford is to integrate the car back into the community; rather than isolating the people from the heart of Stretford, the car will instead have to cater towards the people. This will be implemented by a new crossroads system and the reduction of 6 lane traffic down to 1. The new space created through this change can become operable; enabling the public to have more outdoor public spaces and create a new revitalised Edge lane through this.

The new changes to be made will include a new cycle highway, linking Stretford to Chorlton, Sale and Trafford through the means of safe cycle. The cycle highway will also work in conjunction with my scheme, where there will be plenty of space for people to park their bikes and enjoy the atmosphere. Edge Lane’s shopfront will sit next to the cycle way, helping to bolster economic activity within the shopfronts through providing new ample space for the people to wander through.

The new cycle highway will motivate cyclists to stop using the canal as a bike path. This intervention will encourage new activity by the canal, creating a revitalised canal path which can work in lieu with my scheme.
